Have you ever been Streaking?

After reading about and then meeting and running with Robert “Raven” Kraft, I have been infatuated with running streaks.  From that day I knew that at some point I would attempt a streak of my own, but I wasn’t sure when or if I could do it.  My original plan was to kick my streak off on 1/1/18, but I decided to do a trial run during November.  I normally run 3 or 4 times a week so jumping up to 7 days a week had me a little worrried.  To prepare myself I increased my running to 5 days a week during October, and then I kicked off my steak on 11/4/17 with the mother of all running events the Monumental Marathon.

Now that I have completed this challenge I would suggest that every non-newbie run 30 days straight at some point. I was worried that I might get hurt or be worn out by lacing up my running shoes every day, but actually the opposite happened. I got stronger and my energy level increased. When you run every day the thought of not running or skipping your run doesn’t enter your mind. My mindset changed from thinking “if” I was going to run to “when” I was going to run. I’ve always done well with listening to my body and changing up my training, but this challenge forced me to really think about what I was doing on a day to day basis. Would I be good to go at my normal pace or did I need throw in an easy day. Looking back over the past 4 weeks, I averaged 1 Long run, 1 speed training days, 2 easy days, and 3 normal pace days each week. Other than my long  day, I ran based on the way I felt that day.  Now that I have completed my 30 day streak I’m happy with my accomplishment, but who knows, I might not stop at just 30 days.  😀
